hi, i’m tish.

buckethead + bear is a creative side project of mine, one that allows me to have some expressive fun outside of my professional job as an art conservator. the materials i usually work with are paper and leather, though i also dabble in clay when i can.

wondering where the name came from? well, as a literary nerd, i'm a big fan of alliteration. buckethead and bear just sounds good to me. i like saying it. as a whole, the phrase has a degree of silliness i love. makes folks wonder a bit. and separate, the words also happen to be nicknames (two of many) for our rescue dogs, who’ve both sadly passed away since i began this venture, though they live on in a huge chunk of my heart. (that’s them in the photo.)

she, being part chow, often resembled a tiny and terrifically friendly bear. he, when rescued, had only a red plastic bucket to stick his head in for protection against rain and texas sun. buckethead was our first term of endearment for the nut he very much was. so there you have it, buckethead and bear.
